How much annual leave do you get? This calculator shows leave entitlement for a Classroom Teacher based on your sector's terms: days and hours, pro-rata for part-time, plus bank holidays. Use it to check your entitlement or plan time off.
Assumptions and pay data
Pay data: School Teachers' Pay (England). Main (M1–M6) and Upper (U1–U3) are statutory rest-of-England points from STPCD 2025/26. Leading Practitioner uses published min–max; spine points are evenly spaced within that range (schools may set different points inside the range). Leadership uses statutory L1 minimum and L43 maximum; intermediate points are linearly interpolated for the calculator (actual L2–L42 are in STPCD). Allowances: London uplifts auto-switch by band (M1 / U1 / L1 / LP min vs zonal STPCD 2025/26); TLR and SEN as statutory ranges (see _meta.allowancesFootnote). Support: NJC SCP 5–12; STPCD zonal uplifts do not apply. Schools may use other SCP ranges.
- Leave entitlement is based on your sector's terms (e.g. NHS AfC, NJC, Civil Service). Figures are illustrative; check your contract and employer for exact entitlement.
- Part-time: we pro-rate by your contracted hours vs full-time hours for your sector.
- Bank holidays: as per your sector (England & Wales typically 8). Scotland and Northern Ireland may differ.

What is a Classroom Teacher?
A Classroom Teacher in England is a qualified teacher (QTS) who plans and delivers lessons, assesses pupils and supports their progress. They work in maintained schools, academies or free schools, usually on the Main or Upper Pay Range (STPCD).
