Privacy Policy

This policy applies to pages on publicsectorcalculators.co.uk operated as Public Sector Calculators. It covers visitors who browse the site, use calculators, read guides, sign up for emails, or contact us by email.

Most calculator inputs and results are processed in your browser. We do not require an account and we do not store your salary, band, full-time equivalent (FTE) or other calculation inputs on our servers.

Some features (for example the part-time planning journey) can save band, years in band and FTE in local browser storage on your device so you do not re-enter them between steps. You can clear this any time from the notice on the calculator page. That data never leaves your browser unless you contact us and choose to share it.

To download your results as a CSV file (a spreadsheet file), or to sign up for email updates, you give us your name and email address. You can also sign up for our emails in the box that may appear on a role page, or on a calculator page before you have worked anything out, when you move to leave the page. We store your name and email address with MailerLite, our email provider, along with the page you signed up on: the role, organisation, sector and calculator, the type of sign-up and the date. Your salary, hours and other calculator inputs are not sent.

We use your details to send occasional emails with calculators and planning ideas for public sector workers. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can email us to ask for your details to be deleted.

Like most websites, our hosting may record technical logs (for example IP address, browser type, pages requested and timestamps) for security and reliability.

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage (which pages are visited, general traffic patterns). Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies. We use this to improve content and fix broken journeys, not to identify individual users for employment or credit decisions.

We may use Google AdSense (or similar ad services) to display advertising so the site can remain free. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads based on visits to this and other sites.

When you first visit, you may see a cookie banner to accept or reject non-essential cookies. Your choice is stored in your browser (local storage) so we do not ask on every page.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. You can also manage ad personalisation through Google Ads Settings and, where available, industry opt-out tools.

Rejecting analytics or advertising cookies does not stop you using the calculators. Core site functions do not require sign-in.

We do not sell personal data. We may share limited technical data with service providers strictly to operate hosting, security, analytics, email sign-ups and ad delivery, under their own privacy terms.

This site is intended for a general adult audience planning public sector employment. It is not designed for children under 13.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be published on this page with an updated “Last updated” date in the header.
