Does my sick pay depend on length of service?
Not under the Grey Book (national fire and rescue terms). You can get up to 6 months on full pay from your first day, then at least half pay for up to 6 months, whatever your length of service. Paid sick leave in the 12 months before your absence starts is deducted from that.
Will I definitely get half pay after 6 months?
At least half. After 6 months on full pay your service may reduce your pay by up to half for the next 6 months; it can also keep you on more, and can extend sick pay in exceptional cases.
What if the illness or injury came from my duties?
Then full pay lasts 12 months instead of 6 months (para 11).
How does the 12-month look-back work?
When an absence starts, paid sick leave from the previous 12 months is counted first. If you had 2 months on full pay in that time, you would have up to 4 months on full pay left, then half pay.
What is 6 months' full pay in pounds for a Fire Safety Officer?

Why is the result the same whatever years I enter?
Because the Grey Book (national fire and rescue terms) gives the same entitlement from your first day. The years box is there because many other schemes on this site build up with service.
