Assumptions and pay data

Pay data: Local Government pay (NJC). SCP 23–30: £35,570 to £42,123 over 8 pay points, rates from 1/4/2026. Checked 6/10/2026.

  • Fringe area allowances from the NJC pay agreement of 24/8/2026, Annex 2 (Green Book Part 3 para 32): £1,079 inner fringe and £753 outer fringe a year.
  • The NJC sets no inner or outer London rate; London boroughs agree their own through the Greater London Provincial Council, so the £3,865 and £2,541 options are typical figures, not your employer's rate.
  • Housing associations set their own terms and may not pay these allowances at all.

Frequently asked questions

Do I get the fringe allowance?

Only if your workplace is in a fringe area and your employer applies NJC terms. The inner fringe rate is £1,079 a year and the outer fringe £753; your employer confirms which, if either, applies.

Why is the London figure only typical?

Because there is no national London rate for council staff. London boroughs set their own through the Greater London Provincial Council, and other employers set theirs.

Are the results gross or net? Do you store my data?

Unless this page says otherwise, figures are gross (before tax, National Insurance and pension). Your calculator inputs and results stay in your browser and are not stored. We only collect your name and email if you choose to give them, for example to download your results or sign up for email updates. We store them with MailerLite, our email provider, along with the page you were on. See our privacy policy.
