Dentist Enhanced Maternity & Paternity Calculator

Dentists are paid under their own dental contracts, not Agenda for Change (AfC), so there is no calculator for maternity and paternity pay on this page. The guide below says where the terms for a Dentist come from. The legal minimum still applies: Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) is 90% of your average weekly earnings for 6 weeks, then £194.32 a week, or 90% if that is lower, for 33 weeks.

Assumptions and pay data
  • Nothing is calculated on this page; the guide below says who sets your maternity and paternity pay and who to ask.
  • Maternity leave is up to 52 weeks and is a right from your first day as an employee (GOV.UK).
  • SMP needs 26 weeks with your employer by the 15th week before the baby is due and average earnings of at least £129 a week; without it you may get Maternity Allowance instead (GOV.UK).
  • Partners can take 2 weeks' paternity leave from their first day; Statutory Paternity Pay is £194.32 a week or 90% of average earnings if lower, after 26 weeks with the employer (GOV.UK).
