Guide for Physiotherapist
This guide summarises the CPD and revalidation framework that typically applies to Physiotherapist at NHS. Rules change; use official sources on the calculator for definitive requirements.
What applies to Physiotherapist?
As Physiotherapist at NHS, continuing professional development is usually governed by Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The typical revalidation or review cycle is 2 years. The summary below is taken from published guidance for HCPC CPD. Always confirm current rules on the regulator's website and with your employer.
Key requirements for Physiotherapist
HCPC does not set a fixed number of CPD hours or points. You must keep a continuous, up-to-date and accurate record of your CPD activities. CPD should be a mixture of different types of learning (at least two different kinds of activity). You must show how your CPD has improved the quality of your practice and benefited service users. If selected for audit, you provide a profile of CPD from the previous two-year registration period.
What to use on this page
The calculator shows the framework that typically applies to Physiotherapist, bullet points from official sources, and links to read the full rules. Where numeric targets exist, you can track hours locally in your browser. Employer mandatory training, appraisal, professional body membership and any second registration sit alongside these requirements.
Example scenario
HCPC CPD for Physiotherapist: no hours target; a record of varied CPD, audited over two-year registration periods.

Frequently asked questions
How many CPD hours do I need?
None as a number. The HCPC asks for a continuous, accurate record of a mix of activities, at least two kinds, that shows the effect on your practice and service users.
What happens at audit?
If you are selected when you renew, every two years, you send a CPD profile for the previous two years showing how you met the standards.
